  • Back pain is the #1 leading cause of DISABILITY in our nation
  • 8 of 10 people will have back pain at some point in their lifetime
  • On any given day approximately 26 million people are experiencing back pain
  • Back pain is the 2nd leading reason for doctors visits in the USA with the common flu being #1
  • 100 million dollars is spent each year on Back Pain...50 million is spent by you the patient and yet you still have back pain that may potentially become a lifetime of chronic pain

With spinal surgeries growing each year, why is back pain getting worse?? The answer….the problem causing the pain is NOT being addressed. Drugs by themselves are expensive with numerous side effects which only mask the problem and make it worse by deceiving the patient that they are feeling better. Surgeries and injections DO NOT rehabilitate the area and many times make the problem worse by weakening the "injured area" and surrounding structures.

If surgeries worked then why don't people with back pain get better?? Up to 80% of spinal surgeries are UNSUCCESSFUL within 2 years therefore leaving you, the patient, with less hope, frustration, and still in pain. Many patients then become depressed since they cannot find a solution to their ongoing back pain assuming that they have tried everything that their doctor has recommended.

The DRX 9000 became medically available within the last 9 years. Numerous peer reviewed research studies have already been performed to show the efficacy and high success ratio for qualified individuals with neck and low back pain.

Unfortunately most MD's and surgeons are not aware of Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression specifically the DRX9000 by Axiom Worldwide because it is new in the medical field of advanced technology. Your personal surgeon or MD is not trying to keep this information from you, in fact they simply do not fully understand the available alternatives. This in turn may cause you the patient to undergo long, painful and repetitive procedures that are done in traditional medicine.

Other patients may have tried conservative care such as Chiropractic, Physical Therapy, Acupuncture, Aqua Therapy and still have back pain. The reason why these therapies did not work is that your particular condition(s) has more than likely surpassed what these healing therapies can provide or you may have been misdiagnosed.

Whether you have tried conservative care or have had failed back surgery you may still be able to treat successfully with non-surgical spinal decompression. The DRX9000 Non Surgical Spinal Decompression has positive success outcomes for treatment of disc herniations, bulges and protrusions with related symptoms such as numbness, tingling, weakness, atrophy in the neck-low back, and sciatica (back of leg).

Numerous clinical studies have been performed with a reported 80% success outcome for qualified patients. To view these studies please visit the manufacturer's website at www.AxiomWorldWide.com and click under research studies to view all published clinical studies. Studies include the Mayo Clinic and Spine Journal with an upcoming research article from the John Hopkins Hospital.

How does it work?

Non-surgical spinal decompression (NSSD) works by creating a negative suction (g-force) into the disc causing retraction of the bulging and-or herniated damaged disc. This negative suction produces the force necessary to cause separation between the vertebrae and disc that are being treated.  The reaction created stimulates healing by replenishing oxygen, water, and vital nutrients into the damaged disc allowing them to heal and rehydrate naturally. This treatment process will allow the treated discs to become more buoyant and cushion like. NSSD will help to re-inflate the disc therefore removing any unneeded pressure that has been placed on nerves or other soft tissue structures that may be causing your pain.

How is this different from traditional traction?

Traction works on a linear scale just like tug-o-war where there is constant pulling at only one angle and one constant force.  Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression-NSSD works in waves of oscillation with changing force and degrees. What this means is that the patient is treated at a maximum and minimum decompressive load measured in pounds based on their condition and spinal level being treated. These intervals oscillate between 1.5 minutes and 30 seconds throughout the 30 minute treatment cycle. This fluctuation allows the injured structures and patient to comfortably relax as the machine does all the work by re-engaging the spine through the changing force. With NSSD, the patients treating angle may be changed within a ½ degree for specificity therefore producing high success outcomes for the patient.

What conditions does it treat?

The DRX 9000 Non Surgical Spinal Decompression has been found to provide relief of pain and symptoms associated with herniated discs in the neck and low back, bulging or protruding discs in neck-low back, degenerative disc disease in neck-low back, posterior facet syndrome, and sciatica of the low back. Also for numbness and tingling in the arms, legs, and other neurologic disturbances. It treats spinal disorders that are caused by soft tissue disorders that are primarily derived from the damaged degenerated discs and joints.

Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression-NSSD treats various conditions of the spine including the neck and low back. NSSD cannot be treated to the thoracic spine (mid back)

What does it feel like? Does it cause pain?

The vast majority of our patients feel a slight to moderate pulling with no discomfort during the treatment process. This negative g-force (suction) feels similar to the sensation you feel when your blood pressure is being taken. Patients may feel some achiness and discomfort during the initial phase of treatments as the body is healing and decompressing. The treatments are generally relaxing, and most of our patients fall asleep during their decompression treatment as they listen and watch soothing sounds with their own monitor and headset.

It is important to note that  ALL  treatments on the DRX9000 are with the patient face up on a comfortably sized table bed. Other machines may have their patients face down which may cause pain and problems for the patient in other regions of their body aside from the discomfort of being faced down for a prolonged period of time.

Low back patients are fitted with a comfortable low back-pelvic harness and a mid-chest vest. (pictured below). Neck patients simply rest their head onto a fitted cervical decompression head unit. Neck decompression can be seen in the picture above this section.

Can I treat?

Patients who may qualify for DRX 9000 Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression
· Disc Degeneration, Degenerative Joint Disease, Spinal Stenosis (minimal cases)
· Herniated, Bulging, Extruded, Prolapsed or Slipped Disc Syndromes
· Failed Back Surgery Syndrome(s)
· Neck Whiplash, Headaches caused by disc or spine disorders

How long is each treatment?

Most treatments are approximately 30 minutes for the DRX9000. Patients may be prescribed other in-house therapies to help speed up the healing process. On average most of our patients spend about 50-60 minutes for each visit.

How many treatments will I need?

Complete treatment programs will vary from patient to patient. Patients can be treated and integrated back into their previous normal activities within 2-3 months. Dr. Jara will study your case thoroughly and explain the "expected treatment program" for your specific condition and health needs.

Does insurance cover Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression and what is my expected financial responsibility?

Some PPO insurance companies prior to 2008 did help to pay for DRX9000 Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression. In current economic times insurance companies have unfortunately used the "bad times" to declare decompression as "experimental and unproven". This sadly is untrue as there are various studies that have been performed by peer-reviewed journals to show the efficacy and high success outcomes for patients that are properly qualified for NSSD. This addition to the many thousands and thousands of patients that have already been treated successfully around the world.

The best way to help change the insurance companies is for you, the patient, to write letters to them and request that these treatments become a covered service provided to you, the paying patient. Insurance companies would save millions of dollars each year that is spent on unnecessary spinal surgeries if patients with unresolved neck-back pain were treated with NSSD prior to becoming a surgical candidate.

Dr. Jara will explain the details of your case and care that is necessary in order to successfully treat your condition. Your expected cost and treatment outcome will be discussed prior to starting any treatment. Our office does provide payment programs for financially responsible patients.  This can be discussed during your initial consultation with Dr. Jara.
